Sixteen Candles

Michelle’s Sweet Sixteen

I associate turning 16 with getting a driver’s license. ha! I remember my parents just wanting to stop time for just a little bit- “Hija, you’re not so little anymore!”

Having two children of my own- I can now really appreciate what my parents were going through and honestly I can’t even imagine this moment for my daughter… turning 16 wow- 😭 I will be a crying, hot mess.

So when Michelle reached out about her party and portrait pictures, I was like “Heck Yes!!!!” let’s do it. I need to mention right now that she planned every single detail of her party. Every. Single. Detail. -all the way down to the vendors! She is the coolest 16 year old ever!

Michelle and I had two sessions together. She had a pre-event portrait session and then her event session the day of her party. Think of the portrait session as a dress rehearsal and the best part of it was that this entire time was dedicated to her portraits. No family shot list or time restrictions due to the party. We took this time to create!

Michelle chose Grey Towers Heritage Association as her location for her photos and it did not disappoint. Located in Milford, P.A., this place is magical. As long as you follow the rules- they are super accommodating. So, please my photographer friends… Melody will help you out because she is the bomb! But make sure to play by the rules and they will love you forever. Here are a few of my favorites.

Party Time!

For Michelle, celebrating among her family and friends was the most important detail of her day. Family flew in from Peru and Colombia and they were ready to embrace every bit celebrating with Michelle.

West Hills Country Club was where she chose to dance the night away. Side note about West Hills Country Club. It seems like vendors like compare notes on who has the best food in the area when it comes venues, haha, and West Hills Country Club is top 3. Their food is delicious guys. No, I mean like, really delicious!

Okay, back to the photos. Food can always side track me. haha!

Here are some of my favorite moments from her day!

Michelle wrote a letter to her parents and read it to everyone in the room. Before reading it, she turned to her friends and asked them to remain patient since she would be reading the entire letter in Spanish. I wish I was this cool when I was 16. To hear Michelle’s beautifully written letter spoken in Spanish… so her family could understand- it totally filled my heart.

She dedicated each candle to family and friends that have encouraged and supported her. They came up one by one, to help her light the candles.

The outfit change and fun father/daughter dance was also another favorite.

The rest of the night was this… lots of this!

Michelle and family, thank you so much for having me be a part of this amazing day! Wishing you many more birthdays, celebrations and dancing!

Adios for now!
